Some places stay with us because of the music we heard there. A childhood home, favorite road, concert venue, or family vacation can become forever connected to a song. I love how just a few familiar notes can bring back a place, a feeling, and a moment we thought we’d forgotten.
The people who believe in us first rarely get the spotlight, but their support can change everything. From family members and friends to teachers and early fans, those first encouraging voices give us courage to keep going. Here’s why remembering the people who clapped first matters so much.
Legacy isn’t only built through big accomplishments or unforgettable milestones. I believe we create it every day through kindness, family traditions, favorite songs, ordinary conversations, and the way we make people feel. The smallest moments may ultimately become the ones our children, friends, and loved ones carry with them forever.
I used to think changing my mind meant I hadn’t been certain enough the first time. Life, motherhood, and music have taught me otherwise. Growth gives us new perspectives, different priorities, and better ideas. Sometimes changing direction isn’t giving up on who we were. It’s becoming who we’re meant to be.
People love talking about the lead singer, but I’ve learned the real magic happens behind me. My band taught me something motherhood already knew: nobody builds anything great alone. Strength isn’t doing it all yourself. It’s knowing exactly who to stand next to, on stage and at home.
Some of the best lessons I’ve learned about music didn’t come from the stage or the studio. They came from watching my kids sing without worrying about pitch, ask for the same song fifteen times, and hear the harmonies I almost missed. Turns out they’ve been teaching me right back all along.
My kids have taught me some of life’s best lessons without even trying. Their curiosity, honesty, forgiveness, playfulness, and ability to live in the moment constantly remind me to slow down, stay open, and appreciate what matters most. Sometimes the wisest perspective comes from the youngest people around us.
The Fourth of July may be behind us, and back-to-school displays may be popping up everywhere, but summer still has plenty to offer. I’m reminding myself to slow down, soak up the sunshine, and make a few more unforgettable memories with the people I love before the season slips away.
Live music creates a kind of connection that recordings cannot fully capture. Whether I’m watching another artist perform or stepping onto the stage with my own band, I’m reminded how music brings people together, lifts our spirits, and leaves us carrying its energy long after the final song ends.
Success rarely happens overnight, and my own journey has taught me to embrace the long game. Through music, motherhood, and life, I’ve learned that steady progress, patience, and persistence often lead to the most meaningful rewards. Sometimes the smallest steps are the ones that take us the farthest.

Creativity does far more than produce art. It helps kids solve problems, express emotions, build confidence, and imagine new possibilities. As technology continues to reshape the world around us, I believe creativity remains one of the most important skills we can encourage in our children, both now and in the future.
